The downtown of Toronto is fairly small, not just in square kilometers, but also in size of buildings. Many areas remind me of Lincoln Park, and Queens street even reminds me of Wicker Park in Chicago. However, around the Univ of Toronto campus feels much like Berlin. Wide streets, some shiny new "supermodern" type buildings, not many people.
People kept telling me to go see the ROM - Royal Ontario Museum, not because of it's appeal, but because it was voted ugliest building by Washington Post. How would you like to have your building voted ugliest in the world? I did see it, and I do have to say that it looks rather similar to Daniel Libeskind's Holocaust Museum in Berlin, but it's not necessarily a good thing to remind onlookers of the Holocaust when you're displaying dinosaur bones.
